Hi! I’m Sarah.

Photographer, life lover + finder of sun puddles ✌️

A sensitive introverted-extrovert, professional third wheel, calm presence and enthusiastic chaser of beautiful light.

You can relax

I read the room.

I can be quiet with your nervous mum, silly with your flower girl, direct a family photo when everyone has wandered off, calm a wobble in the timeline, and jump onto the dance floor like a crazy aunt after 3 glasses of bubbly.

When I'm your photographer, your photos will be full of life and laughter. That's why, for me, being friendly, approachable and empathetic is just as important as my technical approach to taking photos. It's one thing to capture a person’s face, but another entirely to capture their laugh, a sigh, a little glimpse at who they really are. Helping you feel comfortable, so that candid moments naturally unfold.

People often tell me it felt less like hiring a vendor and more like having an old friend along. That is one of the greates compliments I can receive.

What is “natural photography”?

I started calling my work “natural photography” years ago, before it was a common phrase. I’m still attached to it; not because it’s a buzzword, but because it describes what I value.

When I meet you for your session or say hi on your wedding day, I won’t be judging how you look or what you’re wearing. (But if you’d like tips on what to wear, you can check out this blog post.) My job is not to judge if you have bare feet, if your kids have little choccie stains on their lips or if you have glowing freckles from falling asleep in your deck chair. (In fact, I quite like all those things!) My job is to capture you, as you are. Because that is truly more than enough.

Natural photography is not “perfect” or glossy; it’s not overly staged or posed. It’s real, authentic and full of love. It doesn’t mean I silently stand at the edge of the room and hope for the best. It means the people matter more than the pose. I still look for extraordinary light, compose carefully, help with timing, and give direction when you need it. I just don’t want the art to cost you the experience.

Your photographs can be thoughtful and creative without asking you to act. They can be flattering without changing who you are. They can hold the real laugh, the wonky detail, the wind, the movement, softness and life that made that moment yours.

Green Goals

I love our Earth! Isn't she beautiful? Nothing beats being in and photographing nature. 💛 Which is why I am so proud for Little Car Photography to be a member of 1% for the planet, donating at least 1% of all sales to earth-loving charities. Alongside this, LCP also makes regular donations to Greenpeace Australiaand United Nations Australia.

Beyond donations, I’m also deeply invested in hands-on regeneration. Together with my family, we’re restoring and regenerating land at Dennison Scrub. At its heart, it’s about repairing damaged land, rebuilding soil health, and restoring habitat for local life — from native plants and fungi, to insects, birds, and marsupials.

Leaving this patch of land healthier than when we found it. If you’d like to come frolic in our little patch of paradise, you’re very welcome to book a portrait session on our little native farm.

Why places matter to me

Places have memories too.

I love a dramatic cliff, rolling dry fields, old gums and pockets of hard, interesting light. But the locations I remember most are usually the ones that already had meaning: a family farm, an old courthouse, the pub where two people met, or the bushland they return to every year.

Tell me the story of the place, and I will see it differently.

Things I Love

Cuddling, wrestling, dancing badly and being ridiculous with my daughter. My cheeky, soulful, introverted husband. Friends who feel like family. Long drives to new places. Laughing out loud. Old gums, dry grass, scrub and the ocean. Yoga, daydreaming, chocolate, green vegetables, zero craft beers, singing in the shower, furry creatures, hard light, soft light, sun puddles - and photographs that let us keep a little piece of life.

Testimonials

Sarah might be a photography goddess – she might not know this herself.
When she is taking photos, she seems to be invisible a lot of the time – she just invisibly moves through the gathering. At other times, Sarah makes herself know when she needs too.
You don’t see Sarah weaving her magic – but weaving her magic she does. Out of her magic, artworks of life and beauty emerge.
We might need to break the news to her that she is a goddess… hope she is ok with that.
Love you Sarah

Fun Fact: I did not know ☝️😂💛

Sarah is a phenomenal talent and person!!! We met up with her on an extremely dreary day for a portrait session. I was very skeptical about how our session would go based on the near constant drizzle/rain and cloudy day. Sarah was so upbeat and positive that we would be able to achieve some great shots and she wasn’t wrong - our photos are absolutely beautiful and have really captured our family perfectly. I simply adore her work and cannot recommend her highly enough.

Fun Fact: We did get caught in the rain, but we still had fun 🌧️ ☺️

Our experience of Little Car Photography was nothing short of amazing. She relaxed any nerves we had on the day and helped make the experience incredible. Her energy and positive vibes are infectious! Not only will you get amazing photos that capture all the special moments, but you’ll also have lots of fun and laughter! Highly recommend choosing little car photography!
