Tanya & Matts Engagement Photography

When I shoot engagements, I normally shoot portraits of just the couple celebrating their engagement at a garden or beach. But Tanya & Matt had a great idea of using my engagement package to shoot their engagement party!

I started the night taking candid shots of all the guests, it was a very dark room full of gold walls and features. So I used my flash with a slight bounce to bring out details in peoples faces without harsh shadows and provide a dark and dramatic background with a warm tone. These kinds of shots look great when converted to black and white as well because of the contrast between light and dark!

After using the nearby staircase for a few group photos and photographing the speeches we shot a few portraits against an awesome gold feature wall. Because of the huge amount of yellow in these shots (from the gold wall), conversion to sepia worked very nicely.
