Booking your wedding photographer is a big deal! (If you've just booked, congrats! Woohoo!) Your photographer will be creating the memories that will let you relive your wedding day years after the cake, decorations and music are gone. Often this can be the very first time you’ve booked a professional photographer, so you may not be sure what to expect. Planning a wedding can be crazy! (The good kind of course). You need to plan and book so many different services, arrange lots of little details, find the right suppliers, the dream venue - it's a lot of work. And for most of us, it's unfamiliar territory (as something we've never done before). Knowing how early to book your venue, photographer, celebrant, flowers, cake and more can be a little daunting. What really sucks? Finding that perfect place, person or thing and then not being able to book them because they were booked earlier by someone else. So...

I've had a few requests recently for before & after examples, to show how I edit my wedding & portrait photos. So I thought I'd take a moment out of my Sunday to share a quick look at my editing process.

We’ve all seen the articles and blogs with the essential list of questions you should ask your wedding photographer. I’m not surprised at how many there are, it is a huge decision booking your wedding photographer. Many people may never have booked a professional photographer before, and so don’t know what they should be looking for, or what questions to ask. As a wedding photographer, my list of questions would be a little bit different to the standard list. 

Every single wedding is different, some are big and some are small. How many hours you should hire a wedding photographer for all comes down to what you want captured, locations, travel times and how long your wedding runs.

One of the biggest worries I hear from couples before their wedding is:

"We're awkward in front of the camera."

The good news? Almost every couple tells me exactly the same thing.

You don't need to know how to pose, and you definitely don't need to spend your wedding day pretending to be someone you're not. My approach is all about helping you forget the camera is there. Instead of stiff poses, we'll wander, chat, laugh together, and I'll gently guide you with little prompts that feel much more like spending time with a friend than having a photoshoot.

When you think of a wedding photographer, the image most people get is - just a photographer who photographs weddings right? But through my experience photographing weddings, I have found that a wedding photographer needs to be much more than that! And is invaluable on your wedding day, not only to capture every little detail beautifully but also to offer their experience from all the other weddings they've worked on to help your day run smoothly.

Do you need professional photographer for your wedding? As a professional wedding photographer of course I’m going to say, yes!! :) But why?

When it comes to getting married there are soooo many decisions to make; location, dress, food, bridal party, flowers, celebrant, rings, invites, decorations, entertainment. But what is the best time to get married? This is a question I would answer based on the look you want your photos to have, what you want to spend and how comfortable you want to be on the day. I think time should be the first thing on your list of decisions to make when it comes to your wedding.
